NOV 5: Calgary Town Hall - Alberta Oil and Gas Well Cleanup Crisis
Alberta’s Oil and Gas Well Cleanup Crisis
In-Person Town Hall - Calgary
Time for Industry to Clean Up Their Mess
You’ve heard the stories: aging oil and gas wells leaking toxic gases near homes across Alberta. Farmers losing acres of farmland to rusting, weed-ridden, forgotten wells. A multi-billion dollar cleanup bill coming due for oil and gas infrastructure across the province.
And now: the government of Alberta is pushing a plan developed to make everyday Albertans pay for industry’s cleanup costs.

What To Expect
On November 5th, we’re gathering in Calgary with landowners, farmers and advocates from across Alberta to expose the government’s drill-and-dash plan for oil and gas wells – and stop industry from leaving us with the bill.
Join us for:
- In-person presentations from landowners, experts, and legal advocates
- Community discussion on how the Mature Asset Strategy affects our communities
- Organizing together to hold government and industry accountable
- Food and fellowship starting at 6:00 PM

Why This Matters Now
Alberta’s government is pushing a new plan to let industry off the hook for cleanup of idle and depleted wells. The government’s “Mature Asset Strategy” was developed behind closed doors by consultant David Yager – a plan giving industry more chances to profit, while the public and environment foot the multi-billion dollar bill.
Thousands of Albertans are saying enough is enough to industry dining on profits when times are good, and dashing when the cleanup bill comes due.
